Each piece is crafted from solid Southern Yellow Pine. Because wood is a natural material, variations in color, shade, grain pattern, and texture are to be expected. These natural differences make every piece of Crate Furniture unique and may result in slight variations from the product photos shown.
We finish our Jess Crate furniture with water-based lacquers rather than oil-based lacquers. While both varieties are applied in the same manner, oil-based resins and lacquers are composed of many groundwater pollutants and contain six times as many Volatile Organic Chemicals (VOCs) as water-based lacquers. VOCs are common in household products but are known to have harmful short– and long-term health effects. Water-based lacquers are not only the safest option but also the most environmentally friendly. They also dry three times faster and are more UV resistant and durable than oil-based options today.
